On September 29th, 2021, Black Stone Cherry made their triumphant return to the UK, kicking off live music once again after the long Covid hiatus with a sold-out show at one of the most iconic venues in the world – the Royal Albert Hall. The Kentucky rockers, consisting of Chris Robertson, Ben Wells, John Fred Young, Steve Jewell, and Jeffery Boggs, delivered an unforgettable night that will forever be etched in the hearts of those lucky enough to attend. This special one-off gig was recorded for release on DVD and vinyl, immortalising a historic night of music.

Supported by the Kris Barras Band, the atmosphere was electric from the start, with Black Stone Cherry launching into fan favorite “Me and Mary Jane”, setting the tone for the night. They followed with hits like “Burnin’,” “Again,” “Yeah Man,” and “In My Blood,” before treating the crowd to a spontaneous country jam, showcasing their roots. The audience responded with an overwhelming surge of energy, singing their hearts out to classics like “Like I Roll” and “Cheaper to Drink Alone.”

Ben Wells captured the excitement perfectly, saying, “It feels like Christmas up here!” as they took the audience on a journey back 15 years with songs like “Hell and High Water” and “Soul Creek.” Then came a jaw-dropping four-minute drum solo by John Fred Young that had the crowd mesmerised, leading into one of the most emotional moments of the night.

Chris Robertson, with his mint-colored guitar that once belonged to his late father, poured his heart into the haunting ballad “Things My Father Said.” As the crowd illuminated the Royal Albert Hall with lighters and phone lights, Chris became visibly emotional, stepping back to take in the moment with tears in his eyes. The audience supported him with overwhelming love, singing along to help carry the weight of the song in tribute to his father.

With emotions running high, the band charged forward with a few more fan favorites, including “In Love With the Pain,” “Blind Man,” “Blame It on the Boom Boom,” and “White Trash Millionaire.” The crowd’s energy reached its peak as they chanted for “one more song,” prompting Black Stone Cherry to return for their biggest hit, “Lonely Train.” The Royal Albert Hall erupted with mosh pits and heavy riffs, proving that rock ‘n’ roll was truly back.

The night closed on a powerful and heartfelt note with “Peace is Free,” as Chris delivered an inspiring message to the crowd, urging everyone to believe in themselves and to hold on to this moment in time for wherever they hear "Peace is Free" they are placed right back inside the RAH. The band and the crowd sang the final chorus together, leaving a feeling of unity and pure joy in the air.
