On August 24th, 2024, Rich Ward (Fozzy/Stuck Mojo) returned to the UK with his latest project, Guardians of the Jukebox, for a high-energy headline set at THIS IS NOT THE GREATEST FESTIVAL IN THE WORLD (THIS IS JUST A TRIBUTE) at Rock City, Nottingham. This 80s tribute act, featuring an all-star lineup with Ward on guitar, Grant Brooks on drums, Doug Busbee on vocals/keys, Sheersha on vocals/keys, and Sean Delson on bass, was the highlight of the night after stellar performances from tribute acts like Korn Again, Audiorage, and Chop Suey.

With just 40 minutes to deliver a powerful set, Guardians of the Jukebox promised a trip back to the glory days of the 80s, starting with a high-voltage performance of Electric Avenue. Fans danced as the nostalgia hit hard, but early into their second song, Maniac, technical issues cut the power to most of the instruments, leaving only the drums and guitar. True to their showmanship, Rich Ward and Grant Brooks kept the energy alive. In a spontaneous moment, Ward leapt off the stage and into the crowd, riffing on Maniac while dancing and interacting with fans. The audience, now part of the act, sang along with enthusiasm, creating a scene straight out of the 80s.

Once the technical issues were resolved, the Guardians came roaring back with Living on a Prayer, igniting cheers from the crowd as Doug Busbee’s powerful vocals filled the venue, with the entire Rock City joining in for the chorus. Sheersha then took the spotlight, swapping keys with Doug to deliver mesmerizing renditions of Sweet Dreams and Flashdance (What a Feeling). The energy continued to surge as Doug returned for Take On Me by A-ha, before Sheersha captivated the audience again with a powerful cover of Like a Prayer.

The set reached an emotional peak as Doug and the band slowed things down for Queen’s We Are the Champions, with visuals of the band members’ younger selves adding a heartfelt touch. Fans lit up the room with phone lights and lighters, creating a magical moment of unity. To close the night on a high, the band ended with Don’t Stop Believin’, sending the audience into a nostalgic frenzy, as everyone sang their hearts out to the iconic 80s anthem.

Guardians of the Jukebox delivered more than just a tribute—they gave the crowd an unforgettable 80s experience. From neon lights to powerhouse performances, it was like flipping through the greatest cassette tape of the decade while watching scenes from classic films. If you’re craving an 80s trip down memory lane and want to be part of a neon-soaked, singalong party, Guardians of the Jukebox are the ultimate sonic and visual delight. Don’t miss their next show!
