Last night (17 October 2024), Sophie Lloyd, the rising star of rock, claimed her throne as the Queen of the Underworld, delivering a blistering solo performance that left no doubt about her prowess as one of the most electrifying guitarists of her generation. Riding the wave of success from her debut album Imposter Syndrome (released November 9th, 2023), Sophie brought her tour to the legendary Camden Underworld, marking her first headlining show. The result? A sold-out night that will be etched into the memory of every fan lucky enough to witness it.

As the sun set over the iconic streets of Camden Town, a crowd of dedicated rock fans wrapped around the block, buzzing with excitement for an exclusive VIP meet and greet. Those lucky enough to attend were treated to Polaroids, signed posters, and one-on-one moments with Sophie herself. Fans mingled and shared stories, bound by their mutual love for her music, before heading into a private Q&A session. Here, Sophie spoke candidly about her experiences working with idols like Queen’s Brian May and offered technical tips on guitar tuning—further cementing the close connection she has with her audience.
But the real magic happened when the show began.
With support act Chez Kane getting the crowd amped, the atmosphere was primed. The moment the lights dimmed and the opening track of Battleground began, the audience knew they were in for a special night. As the band took the stage—Chris Painter on drums, Adam Darat on bass, Marisa Rodriguez and Gaz Twist on vocals, Christian Rivers on rhythm guitar, and Sophie herself on lead guitar—the anticipation reached fever pitch. Then, with a roar from the crowd, Sophie emerged from behind the curtain, launching straight into her EP classics like Bulletproof Revolver and After Insanity. Her energy was infectious, and her shredding lit the crowd on fire.

The night only got better as Gaz Twist joined the band to deliver Let It Hurt, Fall of Man, and Pressure from Sophie’s Imposter Syndrome album, with each track feeding the audience’s hunger for more. The setlist was a carefully crafted blend of her greatest hits and fan-favorite covers, including an adrenaline-pumping shred version of Metallica’s Enter Sandman and AC/DC’s Thunderstruck.

Then came the arrival of Marisa Rodriguez, whose powerful vocals lit up tracks like Won’t You Come and Runaway. With inflatable guitars flying into the crowd and fans rocking out alongside Sophie, the energy in the room was at an all-time high. But the show’s true standout moment came when Sophie stood solo under the spotlight, delivering a jaw-dropping rendition of the Comfortably Numb solo that left the audience in stunned silence, marvelling at her technical mastery.
The night reached its climax as the band reunited to perform fan favourites like Delusions and the title track Imposter Syndrome, before diving into a cover of Machine Gun Kelly’s I Think I’m Okay—a fitting nod to her recent tour with the pop-punk star. Finally, Sophie closed the night with her debut single Do or Die, a perfect ending to a high-energy, emotionally charged performance.
In a show reminiscent of Slash and Myles Kennedy’s legendary dynamic, Sophie and her band proved that not only can she hold her own as a solo artist, but she can command the stage like a seasoned rock icon. Fans who are attending her upcoming performance at the Whisky A Go Go on January 16th, 2025, are in for an unforgettable night.
For anyone still on the fence—grab your tickets now. Sophie Lloyd is here to stay, and the Queen of the Underworld is just getting started. 👑
